Since 1923 Junior League of Seattle has demonstrated voluntarism in the greater Seattle community. During those years, JLS has worked in a large variety of volunteers projects. Each year JLS researches who in our community needs the assistance and how we can be most effective in reaching their needs. Current community partners include Childhaven, Treehouse, Ronald McDonald House, Jubilee House, Healthy Future Arts Project, and Northwest Art.

During the early 1960’s JLS brought a new focus of taking arts education to school children through Northwest Art, a collection of local artists’ works that travel to the schools. It reaches approximate 9000 students a year. We will be celebrating their 50thanniversary this 2009-2010 year.

Having just celebrated our 85th year in Seattle, Junior League of Seattle has successfully met the emerging needs of the community by initiating cutting edge programs and providing volunteers to manage and direct service projects, community education, fundraising, and advocacy efforts.

Junior League of Seattle is the proud author of two award winning cookbooks, Simply Classic and Celebrate the Rain. Both are available at regional bookstores as well as the office. Proceeds from the sales of the cookbooks help fund many community projects.
